Calle Johansson has retired, but he'll still be with the Washington Capitals as a scout.
This is great news if you're a Caps fan. My only quibble? He'll be in Europe, scouting players (duh), but I hope Bruce Cassidy and George McPhee find time to use him as a defensive coach from time to time. It would be a shame to not allow him to pass on all that talent and experience to the up-and-coming Caps blueliners. Jason Doig is showing lots of promise, but I'm sure Johansson still has some things to teach him.
And the rat tie-in? Why, Rat Calle is still named for someone in the Capitals!
